Increase the Longevity of your Treadmill.

Whether your treadmill is designed for home (domestic) use or for light commercial/full commercial (club) use, we strongly recommend that you adhere to a regular maintenance schedule in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines. A treadmill allows you to exercise in the comfort and privacy of your home. Unfortunately, quality treadmills are expensive. Why? For each mile we cover on them, our feet jar the deck between 1,000 to 2,000 times. Each of these impacts temporarily stops the motor and puts a strain on other key parts of the machine. The less expensive models just can't withstand this kind of stress and are more likely to break. If you're unsure about the maintenance your treadmill, try to contact the Distributor or Manufacturer of your treadmill for further assistance/guidance. Alternatively, use our basic treadmill maintenance guide we have set out below. Lack of maintenance or neglect will usually reduce the lifespan of your treadmill.

General Guidelines on Treadmill Maintenance

Lubrication:Use Silicone Lubricant or a PTFE based Lubricant. Apply periodically to the underside of the tread belt.
Tread Belt:Check the tread belt tension periodically and adjust if the belt slips when jogging. Also check the belt is centrally aligned.
Deck:The deck serves an important protective function. so it is vital that you take proper care of it. Decks on inexpensive treadmills have been known to wear out in less than a year when their users neglect them. Fortunately. the more expensive models don't usually need constant care because their decks are protected by phenalic laminate, which can take years of abuse before wearing out. Hot wax also provides effective protection.
